『The Great Gatsby』(F. Scott Fitzgerald)・『グレート・ギャツビー』(村上春樹訳)をテキストとし、村上春樹が60歳までに自分の文体を鍛えてから翻訳したいと言っていたこの作品の原文と翻訳とを併せて読みながら、作品の魅力や文体の特長について自由に語り合う読書会を行いました。
日米文化交流 Global Classmates 対象学年:高1〜高2 (2019年度)
昨年度に引き続き3度目の特別講座「日米文化交流 Global Classmates」を実施しました。米国のNPO団体Kizuna Across Culturesが主催する、ネットを介した日英語併用の交流で、今年度は高1高2の23名が参加しました。(担当:辰巳、Klampert、Guy)
日米文化交流 Global Classmates 対象学年:高1~高2(2018年度)
昨年度に引き続き2度目の特別講座「日米文化交流 Global Classmates」を実施しました。米国のNPO団体Kizuna Across Culturesが主催する、ネットを介した日英語併用の交流で、今年度は高1高2から40名が参加しました。新たな試みとしては、共通のテーマに基づく3分間のショートムービーを作成するVideo Koshienに有志で応募し、参加した日米35校の中から見事Grand Prizeを獲得しました!この講座は来年度も開講予定です(担当:辰巳、Klampert、Guy)。
Learning with Speaking Tests 対象学年:高校生(中3生応相談) (2017年度)
This course is designed to improve students’ speaking skills through oral output exercises using English proficiency exams such as GTEC, TEAP, EIKEN, TOEIC and TOEFL. This is not an exam preparation course; that is, students will not learn for the tests. Rather, students will learn with these tests, and various learning/training strategies will be discussed as well.
This course is designed to enhance students’ awareness towards other cultures through English. Students will frequently be asked to present their own opinions and take part in discussions using English, which will give each student a chance to develop their listening and speaking skills. Moreover, through pair work and group work, students will be given the opportunity to share their ideas on the topic concerned, which will greatly help each student broaden their own views towards the world. Topics will be from the latest global news and different from last year. The official language of this course is English.
In Steps ~Academic English~ 対象学年:高2~高3(2016年度)
This course is an after school class and available to Senior high school 2nd & 3rd year students who would like to improve upon their English speaking and discussion skills for their future. We help students to continue their studies and further develop their communicative skills and critical thinking. Such skills are transferable to seminars, presentations and discussions for the students’ future lives.

This course is designed to enhance students’ awareness towards global issues through English. Students will frequently be asked to present their own opinions and take part in discussions using English, which will give each student a chance to develop their listening and speaking skills. Moreover, through pair work and group work, students will be given the opportunity to share their ideas on the topic concerned, which will greatly help each student broaden their own views towards the world. Topics to be covered include “Stereotypes and Racism”, “Information and Communication”, “Glocal Warming”, “Energy” and “International Relationships”. The official language of this course is English.
ことばに関する文章を読み,テーマについて話し合い,言葉に対する理解を深めることを目指します。世界的な言語・英語学者 David Crystal が言語学入門のために著したA Little Book of Language(2010)をテキストとします。ことばや言語学について関心があり,積極的に自分の考えを発言してくれる人の参加を望みます。
